Marguerite Harrold holds a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry (with Honors) from Columbia College Chicago, is a member of the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley, and has attended the Bread Loaf Orion Environmental Writers’ Conference. Harrold recently retired from the Chicago Department of Public Health after twenty years in the Divisions of HIV Prevention and Environmental Health in order to pursue poetry and naturalist work while also traveling the world. In 2016 Harrold earned naturalist certifications in Interpretation and in Conservation and Land Management from The Morton Arboretum. She also holds a Controlled Burn Certification from Chicago Wilderness.
Harrold’s poetry has been or will be published in the following journals: Rigorous, SHANTIH, Tipton Poetry Journal, Black Napkin Press, Oculus Vox, Poetry City U.S.A, Wimperbang!, Melbourne Poetry Project, RHINO: The Poetry Forum, Spaces Between Us: Poetry, Prose and Art on HIV/AIDS, Eleven Eleven: Journal of Literature & Art, Criminal Class Review, Squaw Valley Review, and Columbia Poetry Review.
Harrold currently lives on the road and expects to be in Fiji by Fall 2018.
